This summer we had Vashon Island weddings in two weeks, what a treat! Island wedding venues don’t get much more stunning than the absolutely beautiful Vashon Field and Pond – one of our favorite island wedding venues in Washington! The islands off the coast of Washington are a wonderful place for a wedding, and Vashon is SO beautiful!! Vashon is the closest of the islands to Seattle – just a short ferry trip from the Fauntleroy Vashon Ferry terminal in West Seattle – you can even see some of the skyline from Vashon, but it feels like an island retreat. There are so many wonderful areas at Field and Pond’s venue for stunning photos, including the beachy vibe of the getting ready cottages, the beach itself, and the big open fields with incredible views of Mount Rainier! For their outdoor boho/island chic wedding, Miranda and Mike brought in a tent and decorated the entire area in a beautiful ‘boho meets nature’ theme that was really showed off the beauty of the venue and their fabulous personal style!
The bride and groom love nature, so they chose to spend their wedding night on the venue’s unique oceanside bed – how romantic! I have never seen anything like it – it is literally a rustic four poster bed positioned perfectly facing the ocean on the edge of the high tide line (scroll down to see photos towards the end of this post). The food was again a unique and personal choice of the bride and groom, which included a buffet of Cajun food, and fresh made M-shaped doughnuts in a variety of gourmet flavors. My personal favorite were the maple bars with bacon – yum!!
Here are some of my personal highlights of Miranda & Mike’s day:
- The vibe of their wedding and the whole venue itself was so relaxed and welcoming! Miranda and Mike did such a great job of making all of their guests feel comfortable, including special things like welcome bags with locally made goods and treats. It was such a relaxed, chilled out experience that they created for everyone to enjoy.
- The madrone trees that grow all around, and views of Mt Rainier from Vashon Field & Pond’s ceremony area were really incredible, and it was a pleasure to photograph in such a beautiful place!
- Vashon Field & Pond’s host Lisa was very gracious and took us around everywhere we needed to go on her golf cart. I think all venues should have a golf cart for sunset photos 🙂 Thanks to Lisa, her golf cart and Miranda and Mike, who dedicated a lot of time to portraits, we were able to get TONS of amazing couple’s portraits!
- Oh and the cute miniature horse. You are going to have to scroll down to see photos of this cutie too. Miranda was so thrilled to be able to have a mini horse as part of their wedding portraits!
