From the moment you step into Melissa and Dylan’s home in Snohomish you know you know you are in a home filled with love. If I wasn’t in my mid-thirties and already have a lovely family myself I think I’d want these guys to adopt me.
I met Melissa as she is one of the wonderful midwives at Puget Sound Birth Center in Kirkland that helped with William and now with baby number 3. I have never met a midwife that I didn’t like – a truly amazing group of people! If I wasn’t a photographer I really think I would love to be either a midwife or more likely a lactation consultant. I feel so strongly about that after the struggles I had with my first baby. Anyway I digress…. back to Melissa and her family…
Melissa and Dylan really embraced their family documentary shoot and I hope they agree that I was able to capture their family being themselves in their own environment. No matching shirts or cheesy posed grins here 🙂 I honestly believe in the importance of capturing natural family interactions. Like many kinds of photography these photographs will only become more special as life moves on and changes. Watching Zaza playing her bass guitar as her little brother tries to help or as she tickles him on the bed are special moments that I am sure they will be glad to look back on as they get older.
Thank you Melissa, Dylan, Zaza and Maven for inviting me into your family home and for being truly yourselves. I am thankful.
If you feel so inclined leave them a note in the comments below, I am sure they would love to read them…
