A Special Snohomish Winter Wedding

Hidden Meadows, Snohomish – Photography by Joanna Monger Photography – Snohomish Wedding Photographer

pinimageThe doors opened and the groom came walking down the aisle.  His eyes were sparkling and he was grinning from ear to ear. With his Mom on his arm to his right, his face was lit up like a child on christmas morning. Friends and family began to cheer, hoot, and holler and Jimmy beamed even more.

As the bridesmaids and groomsmen came down the aisle, some with eyes a little red, and the guests greeted them with cheers and smiles and lots of loud encouragement. There was a moment of quiet as many lumps were swallowed down as Landon started to walk his mom down the aisle. Then the cheering started again. Landon and his Mom squeezed each other tightly, comforting each other and willing each other to put one foot in front of each other. The guests cheered and clapped, as Heather and Landon smiled. Jimmy gasped as his bride came within view and the words “wow” escaped his mouth. His smile was so wide. Together they joined each other hand in hand in front of all their friends and family, exactly as they were meant to be.

Heather and Jimmy’s day was filled with joy; so much joy and gratitude. Where there could have been sadness, there were smiles and laughter instead.

It was a cold and fresh December day. The weather forecast had predicted showers, but although the clouds constantly threatened, the rain never came. It was a perfect day.

I will never EVER forget the mother son dance between Heather and Landon. She held onto him in a way that only a Mommy could hold her precious child. His arms wrapped around her waist as they rocked to the music together. She kissed him. He looked up, wide eyed at his beautiful Mommy. She clinged onto him. Round and round in circles they rocked together as if no else in the world existed except them. The room was silent. I could literally feel my heart beating out of my chest; it was difficult to even imagine what was going on in her mind right then. My hands went into auto pilot, photographing them as tears fell down my cheeks and clouded my vision. Such a beautiful moment between two very beautiful people. So much to be thankful for, so much gratitude.

Heather and Jimmy; thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me to document your wedding day. Heather, you exude grace and kindness. Jimmy, the way you love everyone around you and make them feel important is so very special. Together you are such an inspiration for so many people all around you. I am not a writer so it’s hard for me to put into words how I feel about you and your family. I will just say thank you for being you!

For me it’s not about the fancy details of the wedding day, (although your sparkly tablecloths were flipping amazing!!) it’s the real emotions between people that love each other. I hope that these photos will help you and your family remember the joy and happiness that you felt on your wedding day. From the bottom of my heart I wish you a very long and joyous marriage together!

Snohomish Mountain Engagement Shoot

Rain-shmain, a grey dreary day didn’t stop us from exploring and having fun finding some new spots for Langlie and Joe’s engagement shoot. We took advantage of the last couple of days of fall colors and then went up into the mountains afterwards, and I love the combination that they have in their gallery.

These two love birds are getting married next summer at Maroni Meadows in Snohomish and I am the lucky one who gets to be there to photograph it, and I can’t wait. It’ll be here before we know it!!

I hope you enjoy looking at a handful of their fall engagement photos 🙂

Walla Walla Wedding at Foundry Vineyard – Hallie & Anna

I knew from the first time we met in my office over a year ago that Hallie & Anna were my people. We chatted, drank tea and laughed A LOT. These two are hilarious and definitely make the world a happier more cheerful place wherever they go! I was beyond honored that they chose me to document their wedding day and their wedding celebration did not disappoint. It was fun, sweet and so very heartfelt – exactly like I thought it would be.

The brides got ready at Boyer House which the perfect place to house the bridal party. 13 bridesmaids and one bridesman! The bridal party were an absolute dream to work with. They were all so helpful and kind and really showed up for Hallie & Anna. The ceremony and reception were held at the Foundry and the dance party was one for the ages fueled by The Foundry’s lovely wine. The weather was dull and dreary all day, not what we had anticipated for a Walla Walla Wedding, but the rain didn’t dampen anyones spirits – in fact I think it made everyone party a little harder. Once the wedding was over the party continued at the after party which was an absolute hoot – don’t ask me how I know all about it 😉

Thank you to Hallie & Anna and all their friends and family for such a fun wedding and for making us feel so welcome. I hope you enjoy a selection of the photos from the day. Feel free to leave Hallie & Anna a note in the comments below, I know they’d love to read your well wishes.

Amanda and Nick’s wedding really was a pleasure from the start to the end. The love and mutual respect they have for each other is both heart warming and inspiring. I can only imagine how much their cheeks must have hurt the next day from the none stop ear to ear grins the two of them wore all day.

My own personal highlights from Amanda and Nick’s gorgeous Snohomish wedding have to be their first look which was just so sweet and authentic and Nick and his Mom’s special dance. The way he hugged her so tight as they danced and she cupped his face in her hands as she kissed his forehead. That really made my eyes water. I heard someone say you can always tell a good man by the way he treats his mother 🙂 Thank you for inviting me to document your love story Amanda and Nick and thank you to your lovely family and friends for welcoming me in.

It has been about 18 months since Kim and Brian approached me about photographing their wedding and I have loved getting to know them and see their vision come to life.
