Snohomish & Seattle Wedding Photographer

My name is Joanna Monger and I am a Snohomish & Seattle, WA wedding photographer. I specialize in outdoor weddings in beautiful locations across the PNW. Being outside and among nature in such a beautiful part of the world is the main inspiration for my photography. We are so lucky to have so many great options for wonderful venues in and around Snohomish, WA. The woods, the rivers, the ocean the many beautiful parks all making such wonderful locations for engagement and wedding photographs.

I would consider my photographic style to be somewhere in between photo-journalistic and lifestyle. What does this mean? Well it means I am primarily drawn to photographing your wedding day as it unfolds without too much interference and posing from me. During the family formals and the couples portraits I am much more hands on in terms of posing and direction, but my goal is still to have very natural looking photographs that really represent who you are as individuals and as a couple. I love photographing the couple's wedding day portraits outside in beautiful locations.

My friends and clients describe me as laid back, friendly, down to earth and quite the perfectionist. I love working with brides and grooms who are laid back and love being outside in nature. I can honestly say that in my 30 ahem years I have never been called a girly girl. That’s not to say I don’t love all the pretty details that come with weddings, but what is truly important to me during the wedding day is capturing all the wonderful emotions that are so apparent during the day. Wedding days are so much fun as they bring together all the people you love in one place for a happy celebration. What a fun thing to document!

Wedding Photographers in Seattle and Snohomish

I have an office in Monroe, WA in Snohomish county where I love to meet prospective bride and grooms to discuss their wedding plans. Most of the weddings that I photograph are in Snohomish or Seattle but I do cover all WA state. Some of the other places I photograph weddings in the PNW include: Kirkland, Bothell, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Leavenworth, Everett, Olympia, Marysville, Renton, Redmond, Gold Bar, Issaquah, Sammamish, Mercer Island, Woodinville, Snoqualmie, Bainbridge Island, Port Gamble, sort Orchard, Bremerton, Vashon island, Mill Creek, Mukilteo, Lake Stevens, Camano Island, Whidbey Island, Bellingham, Mount Vernon, La Conner and all over Western Washington.

The vast majority of the weddings I have photographed have been in Snohomish which has lots of different kinds of venues, from ballrooms to barns to rustic farms. It’s a great place in which to get married and a great place to be a wedding photographer.

The other place I photograph a lot of weddings is of course down in Seattle where there is such a variety of wedding venues and I have had the pleasure of photographing in so many of them. Seattle has a lot of cool old hotels, hipster-like venues as well as more classic and traditional ballrooms and indoor venues for the more traditional wedding.

I have also photographed weddings and elopements in California and Hawaii although I am only able to document a limited amount of destination weddings at this time.

I was honored to be listed in the top ten wedding photographers in Western Washington by King 5 this spring which was a real honor.

Dragonfly Retreat Wedding Photographer Bothell

Dragonfly Retreat Wedding Venue in Bothell, WA

Dragonfly Retreat is one of my favorite wedding venues in the PNW. I love how it feels like you are in the middle of the forest, but you are actually right outside of Seattle in Bothell, WA. I truly believe it is one of the best kept secrets up here and I love photographing there. There are lots of beautiful spots for couples portraits among the trees.

As the sun went down on Josie & Oren's wedding day we snuck out into a beautiful patch of trees while their guests were enjoying the reception. In about 5 minutes we were able to make some of my favorite images from their wedding day. I am always a sucker for beautiful back lighting through the trees. Sunset photographs are also a great excuse for the bride and groom to enjoy each other's company alone for a few minutes. Let's face it wedding days are rather hectic and stealing a few quiet moments together is priceless.
