Woodland Meadow Farms Wedding – L&N

Laura and Nate have been such fun getting to know over the last year or so, and their recent Woodland Meadow Farms wedding was just perfect. Their original wedding venue choice became unavailable, and by some stroke of luck, Woodland Meadow Farms became available and it was exactly what they were looking for.

If you haven’t been there, you are missing a treat. It’s located in Snohomish but feels like you are way out in a beautiful forest. The ceremony area is in a gorgeous spot so that the light falls perfectly on the couple as it’s filtered though the trees. That’s a geeky photographer thing to notice, but it makes a big difference to how the photos turn out. During the ceremony, I prefer to not use any additional lights so that I can be very unobtrusive. Often with summer outdoor weddings, the light is less than flattering and can be really harsh on the couple’s faces. Check out some of their ceremony photographs below, and you can see what I am rambling on about.

Earlier this summer, we did Laura and Nate’s engagement photographs with their dog in my back yard, which reminds me. I don’t think I blogged that – ooopps. We had a blast. Seriously, I could photograph these two every day. Nate’s grounded, calming presence is the perfect match for Laura’s fun and bubbly personality.

Wedding Highlights

My personal highlights from their Snohomish Woodland Meadow Farms wedding were:

-The father daughter dance between Laura and her dad Bruce. He is such a character, and I really enjoyed chatting to him during the day about his travels. I had a feeling he had a little something tucked up his sleeve for his special dance with his daughter during the reception. Let’s just say, he didn’t disappoint!

-Meaningful details, like the antique garter that Laura wore that had a tiny pocket with 3 pennies in, are things I love. One was dated 2018, one 1983 and the other 1952. The years that Laura, her Mother and her Grandmother were married. So sweet. I wonder if Laura and Nate’s daughter will someday add a forth penny 🙂

-The couples portraits. I love how trusting these two are and just let me do “whatever I think’s best.” We did some photos after their first look and some more at golden hour after dinner. I love being able to deliver a huge variety of couples portraits and for this I need a little time and the couple’s faith in me.
