Discovery Park Seattle Engagement Photos

Discovery park Engagement photos in Seattle with big old historic buildingspinimage

I really enjoyed spending an evening with Chelsea and Hunter at Discovery Park in Seattle. The red hazy skies from the forest fires up in Canada and the beautiful backdrop of Discovery Park made for some really fun photos I think.

Chelsea and Hunter are getting married next year at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish and I am already looking forward to their wedding. In fact I have a wedding there this weekend too 🙂

I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favorites from their engagement shoot…

Ballard Bay Wedding, Seattle – E&J

Ellen & Jenna’s wedding at Ballard Bay in Seattle, WA, was a beautiful day and with palm trees and bright blue skies it seemed like we were in California not in Seattle. The ceremony was sweet and heart felt and the toasts brought lots of tears to everyone’s eyes. I know these two will be very happy together, congratulations Ellen & Jenna!

I hope you enjoy a handful of images from their beautiful Seattle Wedding day…

Great Hall at Greenlake Wedding, Seattle, WA – J&E

Wedding Vendor team:

Day of Coordinator: Heidi Bernave

Venue: Great Hall at Greenlake

Photographer: Joanna Monger Photography

Bride’s dress: BHLDN

Caterer: Veraci Pizza

Hair & Makeup: Sara Butler

Officiant: Pastor Dave

Emily and Joe’s wedding was a delight to be a part of. The two of them are so sweet and kind and just head over heels for each other. Joe looks at Emily as if she is his world, which by all accounts she is. It’s hard to choose my favorite moment from their wedding day, but one big standout for me was during their first look. Joe as a language arts teacher is not normally stuck for words, but all that he could muster at seeing Emily in her wedding dress for the first time was “Wow!!! Wow!!! Just Wow!!!” So so sweet, my eyeballs may or may not have got a bit leaky 😉

Emily & Joe met about 4 years ago when they were both teachers working in classrooms opposite each other. Joe kept trying to find excuses to talk to her, but his advances were not very successful, shall we say. It wasn’t until a staff function and a few beers that Joe was actually himself in front of Emily and she realized how sweet he was and, well the rest is now history.

Their wedding was held at the Great Hall at Greenlake which is stunning inside. It has Joanna Monger Photography written all over it with it’s big white walls and huge windows with oodles of soft natural light. Em, yes, please! We did their first look inside the Great Hall as it was a super hot Saturday which meant that practically all of Seattle were out enjoying the lake. Emily and Joe are not big into being in the spotlight and so the privacy of the great Hall was the perfect spot for them to see each other. We then went out for some portraits outside and then back inside before the guests arrived for their short and sweet ceremony.

Veraci Pizza rolled up with their mobile pizza oven and made the most delightful thin and crispy pizza. In my humble opinion, pizza is always a good idea 🙂 After pizza we enjoyed toasts, cake and dancing. Then we snuck out for some golden light portraits which were amazing. What a great day. Thank you to all the vendors that made the day go so smoothly and thank you to Joe & Emily and your families for such a lovely wedding day. I hope you like the photos.

PNW Index Engagement Photos by the River – by Joanna Monger Photography

An evening spent exploring the forests and rivers in the foothills of the mountains is always a good way to spend an evening in my humble opinion. I loved my time with Brian and Lindsey and I love the photos we created together. Here is a handful of their engagement photos we made at Index and along the Skycomish river.

Court in the Square Wedding in Pioneer Square, Seattle – Joanna Monger Photography

Amanda and Cody are made for each other. They are so natural and at ease with each other it makes my job of photographing them so easy. Their wedding took place in a unique urban venue in Pioneer Square in Seattle – Court in the Square.

Amanda is amazingly creative and talented and she made all the flowers for the wedding from paper. Can you believe it??? All the bouquets for her and her bridesmaids AND all the centerpieces. I can’t even imagine how much time she spent doing that.

Before the ceremony Cody saw his beautiful bride for the first time in Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle. His reaction was adorable. We then explored the area and took some photographs along the way. It was a busy Saturday with a Mariner and a Sounders game so there where lots of people bustling around. Amanda and Cody’s down to earth and easy going personalities make spending any time with them a joy. The two enjoyed a quick ping pong game in their wedding attire in Occidental Park while a group of naked cyclists passed on by much to the delight of the children surrounding the bride and groom – so very Seattle!

In the evening while the party was going on down below we snuck up to the roof to enjoy the sun going down over the beautiful Seattle skyline. We of course took the opportunity to make some beautiful portraits. I mean Cody and Amanda slow dancing on the roof as the sun goes down – that sounds like a recipe for amazing photos 🙂

Unpretentious, emotional and a day full of love. My perfect wedding. It may sound cliché but these two are clearly perfect for each other, the mutual respect and way their eye’s shine when they look a each other make my heart happy.

Congratulations Amanda & Cody and thank you for choosing me to document your love 💕
