Snohomish & Seattle Engagement Photographer
I am a Snohomish & Seattle wedding and engagement photographer. I love photographing couples during their engagement shoot. I feel so blessed to live in in the PNW; such a beautiful part of the world which is just perfect for taking outdoor engagement photos. I live in the foothills of the Cascade mountains just North of Seattle, right on a river, so I have many wonderful locations right in my back yard. Being out in nature really inspires me creatively, and I am lucky that I get to work with so many couples who are also adventurers and share my love of hiking and the great outdoors.
Your engagement shoot is an ideal time for us to get to know each other better and take some great photographs in a location that we might not have access to on your wedding day. Let’s face it we don’t have professional photographs taken all that often and you don’t want your only photographs to be of you and your significant other in your bridal attire. Your engagement shoot is a chance to go on an adventure somewhere beautiful, to document your love for each other and to create some beautiful artwork to hang on your walls for you to enjoy for a very long time. Plus it’s actually fun and a great trial run for your wedding photographs. By the time your wedding rolls around you both will both be pros in front of the camera and very comfortable with my approach to photography and once you see your engagement photographs you will be so much more relaxed going into your wedding day knowing that you don't need to worry about your wedding photographs!
My favorite places to photograph engagement sessions are somewhere out in nature. I love rivers, the ocean, mountains and fields. Thinking about where is special to you is part of the fun of making your engagement shoot unique.
Engagement Shoot Location Ideas in Seattle
We really don’t have to travel very far to take advantage of the beautiful scenery that is so perfect for engagement shoots. If you live in Seattle and want to not travel far we can take advantage of some of the gorgeous parks that Seattle has to offer. I have shot in pretty much all the parks in Seattle. Golden Gardens Park in Ballard is great as it has lovely sandy beaches and great views over the Sound. Discovery Park is incredibly diverse with beaches, great ocean views, meadows and even a lighthouse. Carkeek Park is a little further north in Seattle and is generally less busy but still has a cute rocky beach, fields and a great little forest to explore. Lincoln Park in West Seattle is another of my favorite spots for engagement photographs, being very diverse with fields, pretty trees and the stunning waterfront. Schmitz Park is a relatively unknown park that I love photographing in. The old growth forest is such a fun place to explore. Lake Union Park by MOHAI is another good location especially if you have your own boat or canoe. Gasworks Park is a fun and popular choice for engagement shoots although it can get quite busy but the mix of old industrial machines and views over the city across the water are pretty unmissable. Other great engagement shoot locations in Seattle include by UW, hiring canoes and exploring the waterways. Alki beach is another amazing location with great views of the city and Seattle arboretum is another good spot if you like trees ;) That is just scratching the surface of ideas in Seattle, I haven’t even mentioned the urban possibilities - Pikes Place, Post Alley, Georgetown, Seattle Wheel, Pioneer Square. Believe me the list of possible places in Seattle for your photographs is pretty endless.
Engagement Shoot Location Ideas near Seattle
As for outside of Seattle, again we have lots of options to choose from. I love photographing on the beach and some great options include Mukilteo and Edmonds (which also has a great dog park on the beach if you want to include your dog in some of your engagement photographs) The rivers around here are beautiful, one of my favorites is the Skykomish river which is just stunning with beautiful clear blue water and the backdrop of the Cascade mountains. It is rarely busy either, especially as I know plenty of secret wonderful spots along it. If mountains are your thing we can do a snowy engagement session up by Stevens Pass or Snoqualmie Pass. Rattlesnake Lake or Rattlesnake Ledge are other amazing places for engagement photographs. Maybe you prefer an amazing waterfall location, then Franklin Falls might be the place for you. It’s a bit of a hike but a beautiful one. I could continue this list of beautiful places but I am guessing you have the general idea by now… we are truly spoilt living in this area :) Together we will come up with the perfect place just for you.
